PNWSCT VANCOUVER SECTION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Called the BILL BIDDLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

 

The scholarship funds, which are determined and available from the Pacific Northwest Society for Coatings Technology to the Vancouver Section shall be administered and awarded by the Vancouver section Scholarship Selection Committee.

  1. Scholarship Selection Committee shall consist of the following members
    1. PNWSCT Vancouver Chairperson
    2. PNWSCT Vancouver Education Chairperson
    3. Three (3) PNWSCT Vancouver Section members to be selected from volunteers and approved by the membership present at the May Monthly Meeting each year.
  2. Duties and Guidelines of the Scholarship Selection Committee
    1. The funds to be awarded could the whole amount available or equal parts as to the discretion of the Committee.
    2. To announce the names of the successful candidate(s) at the Vancouver Section September Monthly Meeting and the next year spring symposium.
  3. Candidate Eligibility
    1. All candidates shall be members of the Vancouver Section of the PNWSCT or members of their immediate family (specifically a son, daughter, spouse or grandchild). The PNWSCT Vancouver member shall have been a member in good standing for at least one (1) year as per the PNWSCT by-laws. Exception to the one (1) year requirement would be a student applicant holding a Student/Educator membership.
    2. Candidates who intend enrolling in any Government recognized post-secondary educational institution.
    3. Candidates of the Vancouver Section of the PNWSCT who are intending to enroll in an upgrading course or special course sponsored by the Coatings Industry such as FSCT symposium or coatings short courses.

  5. Selection Criteria
    1. First preference is to be given to candidates who are the members of The Vancouver Section of the PNWSCT. Second choice would be given to a person in the immediate family of a PNWSCT member as stated in section 1 of Candidate Eligibility.
    2. Candidates must submit a copy of the student’s official transcript of their credits, grade results for their secondary school graduating year and the most recent year completed at a post secondary school institution, if applicable.
    3. Candidates must submit an official acceptance from the post-secondary institution to which they have been accepted or a completed application form and curriculum of the up-grade or industries course they want to attend.
    4. Candidates must be able to appear before the Scholarship Selection Committee for an interview. (Interviews are at the discretion of the Committee).
    5. Field of post-secondary study. Preference to be given to candidates entering technical/scientific fields of study.
    6. Also preference to be given candidates who are graduating from a government recognized secondary school. In the event that a previous recipient of the scholarship applies, the hierarchy for selection, in the event that there are two or more candidates with similar credentials, shall be the recent high school graduate then the previous recipient.

All applications must have been received by any member of the Scholarship Selection Committee by 11th of April, 2008.
